DOLE Employees could Avail of Free e-BOSH Training

MANILA, 9 March 2012 – Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz yesterday said all DOLE employees may avail of the online electronic Basic Occupational Safety and Health (e-BOSH) training course of the Occupational Safety and Health Center to sufficiently equip them with knowledge and skills on work safety and health.

Baldoz made the announcement after being apprised of the e-Bosh by OSHC executive director Maria Teresita Cucueco.

"DOLE staff from all services, bureaus, regional offices, and attached agencies may access the 16 e-BOSH modules without charge. They will also receive certificates of completion upon finishing the course within the prescribed three-month period," Baldoz said.

The e-BOSH is a complete course on occupational safety and health (OSH) which includes good housekeeping, materials handling, machine, fire, chemical, and electrical safety, occupational health, and OSH legislation.

Originally created for distance learners, the e-BOSH requires the course-taker or learner student to pass an exam at the end of every module before being given access to the succeeding modules. Upon completion, the student is also required to submit a re-entry plan to help him/her integrate his/her learnings in the workplace.

The course will also be given to employees of other government agencies at a discounted rate.

The OSHC reported to Secretary Baldoz it will work with with the Civil Service Commission on how to enjoin all public servants to take-up the e-BOSH course.
